Baseball Ducks Walk Off With 6-5 Win Over Patriots by Somerset Patriots July 4, 2015 Central Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (45-23) edged the Somerset Patriots (50-19) 6-5 Saturday evening at Bethpage Ballpark. First baseman Randy Ruiz hit a RBI walk-off single to snap Somerset’s five game winning streak. In the top of the first inning catcher David Vidal blasted a RBI double to five Somerset a 1-0 advantage. Second baseman Jose Reyes blooped a RBI single to stretch Somerset’s lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning. The Ducks scored five times in the bottom of the third inning to grab a 5-2 lead as Ruiz clubbed a grand slam (3) and catcher Mike Blanke recorded a RBI single. The Patriots plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 5-4 as designated hitter Thomas Neal smashed a two RBI single. Shortstop Robert Andino hammered a solo home run (2) to even the contest at 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning. Amalio Diaz earned the win (1-1) in relief. R.J. Seidel suffered the loss (2-3) in relief. The 2015 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until the Somerset Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Long Island Ducks on Friday, July 10th.
