Pro Wrestling Has EC3 re-signed with WWE? The former Derrick Bateman is back where it all began after a lengthy stint in Impact Wrestling by Daniel Yanofsky January 28, 2018 **Spoilers for anyone who watches EC3 on Impact Wrestling** Time is an interesting thing. Some people take advantage of it, while others run away from it. For Ethan Carter III, he did the former. After years honing his craft in Impact Wrestling, EC3 is back in WWE. He was shown on camera at Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia event at the Wells Fargo Center. WWE later confirmed the signing as official on their website. EC3 was a member of the WWE from 2009-2013, and worked in the original version of NXT as Derrick Bateman. Back before it was one of the hottest brands out there, NXT was treated like a game show. Bateman stood out from the rest of the wrestlers there, and it wasn’t just because he had Daniel Bryan as a mentor. He had charisma, however, it wasn’t enough to give him support from the back. Released in May of 2013, Bateman joined Impact Wrestling as then-president Dixie Carter’s nephew, Ethan Carter III. The rest as they say, is history. A multiple-time Impact World Champion, EC3 put the company on his back for several years. He was strongest as a heel, oozing with confidence. His work with Rockstar Spud, Matt Hardy and his recent run as Impact Grand Champion can prove that fact. EC3 also had a phenomenal walkout song. httpss://twitter.com/ryansatin/status/957444181898637314 It was reported a while back by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that EC3’s contract was expiring soon and that he expressed interest in returning to WWE. Recent Impact tapings can further that point as was “fired” after getting the short end of the stick during an upcoming Feast or Fired match. Trademarking his name helps EC3, announced as EC 3 on WWE TV. It will be interesting to see if he will debut at the upcoming TV tapings for NXT. There will still be Impact episodes with him in it, so both companies will have a situation on their hands. Regardless, EC 3 will get a chance to show that the time away from Vince McMahon’s company was the best thing for both himself and WWE. It will be a reunion years in the making.
