Boxing Final weigh-in results for Joshua v. Ruiz Will weight play a factor in Joshua’s United States debut? Does Katie Taylor look healthy enough to compete? by Daniel Yanofsky June 1, 2019 Madison Square Garden got a little taste of the entertainment that will be going down Saturday, June 1st as Anthony Joshua faces off against Andy Ruiz Jr. Choir’s singing ‘Sweet Caroline’, passionate fans and celebrities everywhere you turn, just another day for boxing. As the weigh-ins took place inside MSG, you could feel the electricity in the air. Joshua (22-0) weighed in at 247.8 lbs, a few pounds heavier than his last fight this past September against Alexander Povetkin. Ruiz (32-1), a generally hefty heavyweight, weighed in at 268 lbs. That is heavier than his last bout in which he weighed 262 lbs. To go from April to now with a big weight difference seems like a piece of cake for Ruiz. https://twitter.com/MatchroomBoxing/status/1134560647054630913 Other highlights from the weigh-ins include the undisputed women’s Lightweight Championship fight between Katie Taylor and Delfine Persoon. Both fighters received a loud ovation from the Garden faithful, who knew history would be on the line. Taylor (13-0) weighed in at 134.6 lbs and looked extremely healthy. Her opponent looked comfortable as Persoon (43-1) weighed in at 130.6 pounds. With Katie’s speed, will the weight difference result in an expected outcome? https://twitter.com/MatchroomBoxing/status/1134555513255936000 Full weigh-in results: – Anthony Joshua (247.8) v.
