Baseball Fireflies Drop Game Two of The Series to Hagerstown by Staff Post June 3, 2016 Photo Courtesy of TheState.Com Columba, SC – Hagerstown took an early lead as Ian Sagdal hit a single to left field bringing Jackson Reetz home en route to the Suns winning the first two games of the series against Columbia. Fireflies starter Chase Ingram had a rough third inning as he gave up two runs on three hits. The fourth wasn’t any better for Ingram as he gave up three runs, including one that was scored on a fielding error. Stolen bases highlighted the Suns fourth, as they got steals from their eight and nine hitters. Ingram only lasted 3 1/3 innings as he gave up six runs on nine hits, with three strikeouts, three walks and allowed five errors, posting a 5.03 ERA on the day. Ingram had trouble controlling his breaking ball in his short outing, meanwhile his opponent Pedro Avila had the breaking ball working all game as he put up five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and compiling a 2.88 ERA. Reliever Seth Davis had a strong outing for the Fireflies posting seven strikeouts, including two in the fifth. He also worked himself out of full bases in the fifth. Davis has been impressive as of late, including tonight where he set the record for most strikeouts by a Fireflies reliever in a single appearance at seven. He’s put up eight 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings so far, providing much needed solid relief. The Fireflies got their first run of the game in the seventh on an RBI groundout from Pat Mazeika bringing in J.C. Rodriguez. Milton Ramos would get their next score again in the seventh with a single RBI that brought David Thompson home; they would be all they’d score though. P.J. Colon (7-1, 1.42) takes the mound tomorrow for Columbia. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Spirit Communications Park.
