Fireflies PJ Conlon Named SAL Pitcher of The Week

After pitching the longest start in eleven years, the Fireflies lefty was named the South Atlantic Pitcher of the week. P.J. Conlon allowed just four hits over ten frames of work.

After the impressive start, Conlon told MiLB.com “For the most part, I was able to throw all my pitches for strikes, and seeing Hagerstown play the last two days in a row, they have a lot of free swingers, and I took that into account. I was cautious and I was making sure I was getting the ball down and they were swinging.”

Conlon currently leads the South Atlantic League in ERA (1.21) and wins (7), he also has the second-lowest WHIP (0.94) and the third-most innings of work (67.0).

On how well Conlon has been performing so far, Fireflies Skipper Jose Leger had this to say:”He has been outstanding since day one. You can always see his focus and concentration on the mound pitch after pitch. He’s done a great job of commanding all of his pitches. His changeup has been fantastic, and he’s very deceptive with it.”

While Conlon isn’t considered a top prospect for the New York Mets by MLB Pipeline, he certainly has been making the case for being one this season.
