It is no debate that Floyd Mayweather is one of the best fighters in the world. With a 49-0 record, he is trying to remain perfect against MMA fighter Conor McGregor. We have seen videos of the two’s training camps leading up to the fight, both putting in the, as Floyd would shout, hard work. However, we have seen Floyd not just in training videos over the past few weeks. That brings up the question: Is Mayweather not taking the fight and the challenger seriously?

There have been times when we have seen Floyd do questionable things, like horseback riding and eating burgers while trying to make weight. Now, as someone who has fought for a long time, he seems to know what he’s doing. Mayweather made weight (149.5) and seems to be in phenomenal shape for someone who retired two years ago. Unlike his previous opponents however, McGregor is a wild card. It seems concerning that Mayweather is doing extracurricular activities before the fight.

Just recently, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani interviewed Floyd in his strip club Girl Collection. While informative, it was interesting to see the setting in which it took place. Mayweather did say he would be there almost every night before the fight. While he hasn’t been drinking, it does seem concerning that he has spent hours there leading to what may be the last fight of his career. He stated his sleeping habits have been unnatural for years, but for a 40-year old man, that doesn’t sound healthy in regards to saving energy, or money.

Does McGregor have an advantage now that the fighters will use 8oz gloves? How long has Mayweather been preparing with them? That is a huge factor that may be unnoticed. He must know by now that this won’t really be a boxing match, it will just be a fight. It will be ugly and it’s moving out of his element. While he may seem calm, he must be thinking about all of this.

Don’t forget, Floyd is dealing with Mystic Mac. McGregor has been adamant about beating Floyd early, going from four rounds to inside two. When has McGregor been wrong about a fight this serious before? Floyd and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe were adamant that McGregor would struggle to make weight. McGregor shocked them, or at least Ellerbe, when he weighed in at 153. Looks like Conor should stick to making predictions about certain outcomes.

Do my words not make sense? Neither does Mayweather’s preparation, but it could all be one big ruse. Physically he looks ready, but is he mentally? Maybe the fun times Floyd is having is keeping him calm before he heads into a huge moment in his career. A the end of the day, nothing else will matter when Mayweather and McGregor step inside the ring. We will see how much hard work has been put into this fight as soon as the introductions are over. There is no doubt this should be quite a show.

Am I saying that Mayweather is not prepared? No, but I believe he is unnecessarily preoccupying himself. It’s up to him to prove me and all of his detractors all wrong tonight.
