Flyers Home Opener to Feature New In-Game Experiences and Commnity Initiatives

The Philadelphia Flyers will return to the Wells Fargo Center on Monday, October 12, after their two game trip to Florida.

In addition to the two promotional items of a KIA #PlayBoldly Flyers Rally Towel and a 2015-2016 magnetic schedule, Flyers fans will get the chance to enjoy the new enhanced in-game entertainment.

Shawn Tilger, Chief Operating Officer of Business Operations for the Flyers said, “Nothing beats the electronic atmosphere of Flyers opening night at the Wells Fargo Center. We invite fans to be a part of the action. There are plenty of good seats at every price range available now for opening night and for every home game this season.”

The Flyers new in-arena experience includes new movable light structures, enhanced in-game statistics and much more. On opening night, the team has partnered with Quebec based event design company, TKNL, to craft a four minute, sensory provoking opening show featuring three dimensional projection, lasers and special effects.

In arena host Shawny Hill returns for his sixth season, joined by new co-host Alexandra Kraemer. The season will also see an upgraded promotional staff that includes the 17 member Flyers Ice Girls.

A number of the Flyer’s community outreach programs will also be featured at the games. Team captain Claude Giroux continues to host families in need and community organizations in his “Giroux’s Crew” suite.

Jakub Voracek, will continue to host organizations in his “Voracek’s Vault” suite on select game nights. Voracek also adds a second game based community program, “A Czech for Hearts” in partnership with Simon’s Fund, a Philadelphia based organization that is dedicated to raising awareness about the conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in young athletes and children.

“A Czech for Hearts” supports the idea that while a hockey game can end in sudden death, a child’s life should never. For every Flyers victory decided in the five minute overtime, Voracek will donate 1000 dollars to Simon’s Fund. More information about Simon’s Fund can be found at www.simonsfund.org.

Wayne Simmonds will begin hosting military representatives, both veterans and active members, in his new “Wayne’s Warriors” on select game nights.

Prior to the game on Monday, fans can follow the team, starting at 12:00 PM, as they celebrate the home opener in style. A multi-vehicle caravan featuring military Humvees, a Philadelphia Fire Department’s Fire Truck, Sugarhouse Casino double decker bus and the Dunkin Donuts sampling truck will make its way from the Wells Fargo Center, up Broad Street and throughout the city.
