Hockey Flyers Roster Moves: More Cuts by Evan Watson September 21, 2018 Thursday afternoon came and went for Philadelphia Flyers regulars, but for 11 others, it was the end of camp. Wednesday saw two high end prospects in Morgan Frost and Isaac Ratcliffe sent to their junior squads for a run in the WJC. Hextall also signed surprise defenseman Yegor Zamula to an entry level contract, a reward for a great tryout. He was sent to his junior team. Here’s an interesting bit: Yegor Zamula attended Flames dev camp this summer, before signing an ATO with the Flyers. The last player to attend Calgary’s dev camp and sign with the Flyers? Phil Myers. — Joe Pergola (@BSH_Joe) September 21, 2018 Just some thought-candy. Ten other players were sent to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms: Colin McDonald, David Kase, Zach Palmquist, Reece Willcox, German Rubtsov, David Drake, Frank Hora, Mike Vecchione, James de Haas and Connor Bunnaman. This brings the roster to 41 players ahead of Friday’s match in Allentown, PA. Notable prospects still with the club include Philippe Myers, Carter Hart, Mikhail Vorobyev, Taylor Leier, Alex Lyon (injured), Anthony Stolarz, Carsen Twarynski, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Tyrell Goulbourne, Radel Fazleev, Cole Bardreau, Pascal Laberge (injured), Mark Friedman and Danick Martel. Alex Lyon will miss four weeks with his injury. Another few waves of cuts will come to set the final rosters. Most likely players to make the team are Mikhail Vorobyev and Phil Myers. Count Carsen Twarynski and Nicolas Aube-Kubel as dark horse roster candidates. NAK has played on Giroux’s opposite wing this preseason, and Twarynski has displayed standout shooting skills during camp. Twarynski showing off that plus shot that got him 45 goals in the WHL last year. To my eyes, he was the best pure shooter at rookie camp, too. — Charlie O'Connor (@charlieo_conn) September 19, 2018 Twarynski has scored in the preseason and can cause trouble physically. He took more than one minor penalty against the Rangers Wednesday night, though one was an offsetting roughing call. Come Friday night, more players could be sent to Lehigh Valley. The way things are shaping up, don’t count out Weise as a potential waive. He’s got a lot of young competition to keep up with.
