College Fordham Misses FCS Playoffs But Close Out The Season Strong Over Bucknell by Jason Cordner November 21, 2016 (Photo by Tom Horak – Double G Media) Fordham Rams closed out the 2016 season with a 36-22 victory over the Bucknell Bison. With the win, Fordham improves to 8-3 overall, 5-1 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell finishes at 4-7 overall, 3-3 in the conference. Kevin Anderson was 17 for 32 for 327 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. The pick-six was Anderson’s first interception since the Oct. 8 game against Lafayette. The game was Anderson’s third 300-yard game of the year. Chase Edmonds ran for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Edmonds, who entered the game with the school and Patriot League record for career rushing touchdowns, added to that total with his three today and now has 62 over the past three years. Edmonds’ 181 rushing yards brings his school-record career total to 5,285, 336 yards shy of Jordan Scott’s Patriot League career mark of 5,621 yards. The Fordham defense clearly came out to play, which they did not do in their last true road game at Lehigh. Bucknell barely crossed midfield on its first drive of the game and had to punt. Fordham’s defense held Bucknell to just 275 yards, including five three-and-outs. No FCS Playoffs But Hope Is There For The Future While the Rams didn’t make the playoffs, they will at the very least walk away with an 8-3 record, 5-1 in the Patriot League, in Breiner’s first season as head coach. All three losses came on the road. The Rams were without two of their biggest playmakers, as sophomore receiver Corey Caddle and graduate student linebacker David Barletta were both out with injuries. The future of the program is in great hands. Look forward to seeing what 2017 will look like for the Fordham Rams.
