Baseball Giancarlo Stanton sidelined with bicep strain by Chris Passarelli April 1, 2019 If things couldn’t get much worse for the Yankees, they received another piece of bad news as Giancarlo Stanton was put on the 10 Day IL. Stanton has looked absolutely horrible so far this year, going 2-for-8 with multiple blown opportunities to get a clutch hit. His latest disappearing act was a strikeout on THREE change-ups from unknown pitcher John Means. Stanton swung and whiffed on all three as he was well ahead of each pitch. He honestly may have swung so hard that he strained his bicep. Anyway, Stanton’s injury now opens the door for Clint Frazier, who had a terrible Spring and is still coming off a 2018 season where he was battling concussion symptoms for most of it. Frazier had a terrible Spring, but could have a great beginning to the season. If this 10 Day IL stint turns into something long term for Stanton, Frazier needs to step up his game. With Brett Gardner struggling (1-for-12) and Mike Tauchman as the completely unknown fourth outfielder, Frazier’s health and product is needed desperately. We’ll see how this thing shakes out, but the injury bug has struck once again, and it’s to one of the Yankees’ most important players.
