Giants Chris Heston No-Hits Mets at Citi Field

Up until last night there hadn’t been a perfect game or no-hitter in the Majors this season. The closest thing to either one was a Braves no-hit bid against the Miami Marlins, but even that was broken up in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was a different story for the Giants, as pitcher Chris Heston held the Mets to no hits in a San Francisco 5-0 victory at Citi Field

This is the first Giants hitter since Matt Cain threw a perfect game on Jun 13, 2012. This is also the first time that the Mets have been no-hit since the late Darryl Kyle did it with the Houston Astros in 1993. This is the first no-hitter in general since the Washington Nationals’ Jordan Zimmerman threw a no-hitter on the final day of the 2014 MLB regular season.

The only thing that kept Heston from completing a perfect game instead of a no-no is that he allowed three Mets to get on base by hitting them each. Heston didn’t just perform well on the pitching side, but also on the batting side. He hit a 2-run single for his first career RBIs. The Mets were the home team, but Chris Heston was the one fans were watching.
