Baseball Harang heads to the DL, Billingsley Activated by Staff Post July 5, 2015 from; ZimbioBillingsley has been activated off DL The Phillies announced on Thursday that starting right-handed pitcher Aaron Harang would be heading to the 15-day disabled list. Harang has been struggling this season, with a 4-11 record almost halfway through the season. Harang looked to be a bright spot in the Phillies rotation, starting the season with one of the better records on the team at 4-3. Since then, Harang has lost eight straight games, becoming the first Philadelphia pitcher to lose eight straight since Jim Nash in 1972. Harang heads to the DL with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, the foot which Harang plants on during his delivery. Plantar fasciitis is known to be painful, knocking Angels’ first baseman Albert Pujols out for the remainder of last season when he was diagnosed on July 26. If Harang has been favoring his foot for a few games, it could explain his poor results. As a result of Harang heading to the DL, the Phillies now have room to activate Chad Billingsley. Billingsley was sent to the DL on May 15 with a lat strain. Billingsley was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA. Billingsley threw five innings, giving up five hits and one earned run while striking out four in his final rehab start with triple-A Lehigh Valley last Fiday. The Phillies are swimming in mediocrity this season, with a Major League worst 27-54 record this season.
