BaseballHarvey/Mets: Stop With The Distractions, Just Play Ball! by Staff Post October 6, 2015 Matt Harvey (Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images) So Matt Harvey, who will start for the New York Mets in Game 3 of the NLDS, did not attend the mandatory workout today with the rest of his team. Is it a big deal? To some it may be, but I see it as a distraction for a team that wasn’t really rolling on all cylinders heading into the postseason.Yes, they were on a high in Cincinnati when they clinched the National League East, but ever since that series it has been somewhat disappointing for this 90 win team. Not trying to veer off the subject (as I’ve already done), but Harvey has been a distraction to this team once before with the mind boggling innings limit fiasco. Thank God that’s over, but now it’s this absence that is causing the media to again paint a negative picture of this athlete when this simply could be swept under the rug and not considered as a crisis. The point I’m trying to get across is that, yes, he missed a mandatory workout, but he apologized to GM Sandy Alderson and skipper Terry Collins. What else does he have to say? This being publicized, and magnified as something bigger than it is proves nothing, and could definitely turn out to be something negative if given more life.Just play ball, and leave the drama at home people, please!
