College Hawks Finish Third, Isaiah Miles Earns All-Tournament Team Honors by Renee Washington November 24, 2015 (USA Today Sports Images) Saint Joseph’s Hawks (4-1) finished in third place in the Naismith Bracket of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off behind a late win over Old Dominion (3-2). Senior Isaiah Miles was named to the All-Tournament Team after scoring 16 points (7-of-14 FG) in the Hawks 74-63 loss to Florida and a game-high 18 (8-of-15 FG),six rebounds, and three blocks in the win over ODU. The Hawks defeated ODU in the consolation game of the 2015 Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun Arena 66-64. The Hawks went scoreless for a stretch of three minutes allowing Old Dominion to take a 21-15 lead before Bembry and Miles combined for nine points to bring the Hawks within two. ODU held the lead at the half 31-30. It was a game of lead changes as OD led by as many as six in the second half. With 8.9 seconds left and the game tied at 64-64, DeAndre’ Bembry inbounded it and Newkirk eventually pulled up for the game winning jumper. Shavar Newkirk finished with 10 points for the night. Bembry added 11 of his 15 points in the second half. Saint Joseph’s is now 4-1 on the season. After playing five games in nine days, the Hawks get a break for the holiday. Saint Joseph’s returns to Hagan ’85 Arena to face Big 5 rival Villanova on December 1. Tip off is at 7:00pm on CBSS.
