MMA Heavyweight Showdown II: Fabricio Werdum to face Cain Velasquez at UFC 207 by Daniel Yanofsky October 24, 2016 Looks like December 30th will be much more than the Ronda Rousey show. Two heavyweights have been confirmed to fight at UFC 207 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a showcase of two of the best the UFC has to offer, as Fabricio Werdum (21-6-1) will face Cain Velasquez (14-2). The UFC confirmed the news late last week. httpss://twitter.com/ufc/status/789234724531163137 Werdum will look to have a two-fight advantage over Velasquez, as the former beat the latter for the UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 188 in Mexico City. A rematch never happened at UFC 196, and Werdum eventually lost the title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 198. It has been a long road back to the top for both of these men, and December 30th will be a true test for them. While the title won’t be on the line, we should still expect a classic from these two. A win should propel either men to become the favorite to challenge Miocic for the title. With impressive wins over Travis Browne (Velasquez at UFC 200, Werdum at UFC 203), they are looking to prove that they are still the alpha dogs of the heavyweight division. UFC 207 is shaping up to be a nice card, with various possibilities. Along with the women main eventing, I can’t wait to see what these two heavyweights have in store for fans watching around the world.
