Hot or Not: Which Yankees have had success against Boston this season?

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will face off in the American League Division Series. Game 1 is Friday night at Fenway Park in Boston. The first two games of the best-of-five series will be in Boston before the teams head to New York.

It’s always an exciting adventure when these two historic ball clubs meet on the diamond. This season was no different. Boston took the season series over New York, 10-9. The two teams are fairly evenly matched. A lead is never safe when these teams get together, as has been proven many times.

Which Yankees have had success against the Red Sox this season? Which have not?


Luckily for the Yankees, their three biggest home run threats have had the most success against Boston this season. That should be a comforting feeling for the club.

Aaron Judge – The superstar right fielder has hit .444 with two home runs (both solo shots) in five games against Boston this season.

Gary Sanchez – While it’s been a tumultuous year for Sanchez, he has had his share of success against Boston. In five games, Sanchez has hit .333 with three home runs and three doubles. He’s driven in eight.

Giancarlo Stanton – This first year Yankee has done damage against Boston this season. In nine games, Stanton has a .486 average to go along with two home runs, four doubles, a triple, and nine RBI.


Aaron Hicks – In 27 at-bats through eight games against Boston this sesaon, Hicks has two home runs but just a .148 average.

Miguel Andujar – The Rookie of the Year candidate has struggled against the Yankees biggest rival. Andujar is batting .194 with one home run and six strikeouts in 36 at-bats against Boston this year. He does however have four doubles.

Brett Gardner – Gardner, now a backup outfield, has struck out ten times in 31 at-bats against the Red Sox this season. He has an average of .194.

Gleyber Torres – Another stand out rookie that has struggles against Boston. Torres is batting .091 with 13 strikeouts in 22 at-bats this year against the Red Sox
