Baseball "I really didn't say everything I said." Meeting Yogi Berra I got the chance to meet a baseball icon last night. Yogi Berra is one of baseball’s all time greatest players and characters. by Staff Post May 27, 2010 Tonight, my wife and I took the trip up to Montclair State University to meet Yogi Berra at his book signing event. It was a fun event for both of us and something we enjoyed doing together. The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center is located on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. While not an large museum, it consists of many pictures and lots of memorabilia that every baseball fan should check out. While walking through the museum, you will see many great photographs of Yogi and other great former Yankees. The newest addition to the museum is a Derek Jeter exhibit. In the large glass case honoring the current Yankees shortstop for his 2009 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award is Jeter’s jersey, cleats and bat. We got to view these great exhibits while waiting in line for our chance to meet Yogi and have our book signed. Yogi was set up in a room designed like a baseball stadium. After Yogi Berra signed the cover of his book, “The Yogi Book,” me wife and I got to take a picture with the Yankee great. ‘The Yogi Book’ is a collection of Yogi-isms. Some great lines are included in this book. A nice easy read that I guarantee will make you laugh. Not only are Yogi’s quotes included in the book, but for each quote, he gives his reason behind it. It will help you better understand one of the greatest men to every play the game of baseball. Also in the book are some short notes to Yogi from his friends and family. Tony Kubek, Tim McCarver, and Billy Crystal are some of the people to write in this book. His three sons also had some very nice things to say about their father. I recommend this book to all baseball fans. You can purchase it by clicking on the amazon link on the left side of the main Double G Sports page. I am honored to have had the chance to meet Yogi Berra and have him sign his book that my wife purchased for me. A great addition to my memorabilia collection.
