High School Sports IHA and Immaculate Conception Advance to Bergen County Girls Final by Staff Post February 18, 2015 Immaculate Heart Academy, 65 (12) Paramus Catholic 34: IHA went on a 9-0 run in the 1st quarter and never looked back, routing 12th seeded Paramus Catholic in the semifinals of the Bergen County Girls Tournament at Ramapo College. The Blue Eagles received balanced scoring with Caitlin Roche leading the way with 17 points while Katia Oge provided 14 points and Jordan Wilmoth added 13 points. “We had two really good practices in a row which translated into good play,” said Immaculate Heart Academy Head Coach Steve Silver. “We focused on really good defense without fouling.” The Lady Paladins cut the deficit to 31-19 at halftime but IHA erupted for an 18-2 run to start the 3rd quarter that sealed the win. Roche had a pair of buckets to expand the lead to nineteen points at 40-21. Immaculate Conception, 55 (10) Saddle River Day 40: The Blue Wolves rode the hot shooting hand of Samantha Feuhring who scored a game high 30 points as Immaculate Conception held off a late 2nd half charge from Saddle River Day winning 55-40 in the semifinals of the Bergen County Girls Basketball Tournament at Ramapo College. “I had a really good feeling that Samantha was going to come out today and have a good game,” said Immaculate Conception Head Coach Jeff Horohonich. “Her athletic ability and unselfishness is uncanny.” Feuhring tallied 17 points in the 1st half as Immaculate Conception jumped out to a 29-13 halftime lead. However, the Rebels stormed back cutting the lead to five points at 30-25 on a coast to coast lay up by Daniella McMahon who led Saddle River Day with 12 points. The Blue Wolves responded with Feuhring’s three-point play on a put back shot to bump the lead back up to eight.
