High School Sports IHA sneaks by Ramapo 35-29 by Staff Post February 14, 2015 In a game that featured two of the top 10 ranked teams in Bergen County, Immaculate Heart (18-1) went on a 8-2 run in the 3rd quarter which proved to be a turning point as the Blue Wolves edged the Ramapo Raiders (18-3) 35-29. Jordan Wilmoth poured in a game high 14 points while Alex Mesropyan netted 8 points. “We had to grind this one but our defense keeps us in games,” said Immaculate Heart Academy Head Coach Steve Silver. “A win is a win and we will take it. When we needed a clutch shot we got it.” Ramapo cut the Blue Wolves lead to five points twice in the 4th quarter on a put back shot and left handed layup by Marina Pappas who finished with a game high 14 points. However, IHA hit their foul shots down the stretch to seal the victory. IHA jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter but went into an extended scoring drought. The Raiders took advantage of the opportunity going on an 8-0 run to take the lead 8-7 on a jump shot by Reilly White. That lead was short lived as Caitlin Roche went coast to coast for a layup putting the Blue Wolves back on top 9-8. With the score nodded up at 9-9. IHA went on their second 7-0 run of the game to take a 16-9 advantage. The Blue Wolves exhibited tenacious defense that led to steals and transition points. Wilmoth end-to-end layup and jumper sparked the outburst.
