Impact Wrestling – Global Force Wrestling (ImpactWrestling.com)

Jeff Jarrett’s pet project has officially merged with Impact Wrestling. The company sent out a press release regarding the acquisition of Global Force Wrestling yesterday. While a merger was made official a while back, there were no specific details on the move before.

Jeff’s wife, Karen, made a statement on Impact’s website regarding the merger. She stated:

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with Anthem as a partner to build the business. This partnership will be complementary of our strengths and bolster our capabilities to grow the IMPACT Wrestling brand. Ed Nordholm as President and Jeff Jarrett as Chief Creative Officer make a great tag team”

Ed Nordholm took the time to also make a statement, praising that the Jarrett’s have become great allies since Anthem acquired Impact in January. Through the eyes of an outsider, the merger has done wonders for a revitalized Impact Wrestling. New stars are already on the roster to freshen things up, and former faces have returned to the company. Just recently, TNA original Sonjay Dutt returned to the company and won the X-Division Title for the first time in his career.

The move comes at the perfect time for both companies. For GFW, it finally provides talent a platform where fans can see them perform. Jarrett has taped episodes of GFW stashed away, since a TV deal was never able to come to fruition. On the other side, in just a few short days is Impact’s Slammiversary PPV. The opportunity for both GFW and Impact’s titles to be on the line makes for a very interesting card. We already have the Latin American Xchange as dual champions and both Sienna v. Rosemary and Alberto El Patron v. Bobby Lashley in a title v. title match.

The only problem is that Cody Rhodes is the NEX*GEN Champion. As of a few weeks ago, he is no longer working for Impact Wrestling. It will be interesting to see how the company works around that.

This is great publicity for Impact Wrestling heading into one of their biggest events of the year. It looks like we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
