Hockey Islanders’ point streak ends at 17 in Anaheim by Chris Passarelli November 27, 2019 At some point the Islanders knew this 17-game point streak was going to end. Islanders fans knew it and it would be almost impossible to go the entire season without a clunker. Unfortunately for the Islanders, the clunker came on Monday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The Islanders actually dominated the first period, throwing 16 shots on net. However, they didn’t create many real opportunities up front and most of their shots were from the outside. The Ducks did to them what they’ve done to most teams over the past month. Jordan Eberle was finally able to score a goal….for the wrong team. His stick deflected a Ryan Getzlaf shot into the net midway through the second period. The game was tightly contested until late in the third, when Cam Fowler essentially put the game away with a wide open score from the slot and Ondrej Kase threw a knuckler from the side wall that dropped on Thomas Greiss and into the net. The Islanders aren’t satisfied with their win streak. They’re upset that it ended and they’re ready to get back to another win streak. As Barry Trotz stated on Monday night, “some of the guys were full and weren’t hungry enough”. Let’s hope that on Wednesday night against the Kings that the Islanders will be ready to get back on the winning train.
