Sebastian Aho is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman. Though he is only 5’10”, he has great hockey sense and knows how to quickly get the puck out of the zone. The 21-year old will more likely than not begin the season in Bridgeport with the Sound Tigers.

Pending a trade or release through waivers, Calvin de Haan, if signed, will be the sixth defenseman for the Islanders. He filed for arbitration by the July 5, 2017, 5pm deadline. Of course, the parties may continue negotiations and come to an agreement before the set hearing date (TBD).

Adam Pelech, is the only other defenseman yet to ink a deal with the Isles. Forward Connor Jones, and goaltenders Christopher Gibson and Kristers Gudlevskis also remain without a contract thus far. Jones and Gudlevskis were arbitration-eligible, but did not exercise their rights to file for arbitration.
