College Ivy League Announces Men’s Basketball Postseason Awards by Gregg Snyder March 9, 2016 Justin Sears (Photo by Leon Bennett/Getty Images) Yale head coach James Jones and senior forward Justin Sears earned postseason Ivy League honors for the second straight season. The league announced it’s men’s basketball postseason awards on Wednesday. Jones repeats as Coach of the Year after leading Yale to it’s second straight league title. The Bulldogs will be playing in the NCAA Tournament, for the first time since 1962, after winning the Ivy League title outright this season. Sears, a Plainfield, NJ native, was named Player of the Year for the second straight season. The Bulldogs forward averages 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, leading Yale into the postseason. Sears is the only player in school history with at least 1,600 career points and 700 career rebounds. He was also a unanimous selection to the All-Ivy First Team where he joins teammates Makai Mason and Brandon Sherrod. Joining the Yale trio on the First Team are Princeton’s Henry Caruso and Columbia’s Maodo Lo. Dartmouth forward Evan Boudreaux was named Rookie of the Year and Agunwa Okolie of Harvard took home Defensive Player of the Year honors.
