Jet Up – Jets win ‘Toilet Bowl’ against lowly Giants

The New York Jets are going nowhere this season.  Let’s be frank, they are still a bad team.  However, every once in a while they turn in a performance (see Dallas Cowboys) that inspires at least a little bit of confidence in the direction they’re going.  Granted, this performance was against a terrible New York Giants team, but a win is a win.

Sam Darnold started off the scoring with a nice two yard run.  The Jets continued to dominate the first quarter as Darnold also found Jamison Crowder for a 23 yard touchdown pass.  Darnold was the best form of himself on Sunday and it showed, as he didn’t make any bad decisions.

The second quarter was all Giants.  Daniel Jones found Darius Slayton twice in the second quarter for two different touchdowns, one for five yards and the other for 39 yards.  For some reason, the Giants tried going for a two point conversion, which failed.

With the good of Daniel Jones always comes the bad.  Jones fumbled on the opening possession and Jamal Adams returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.  The Giants came storming back, with Jones tossing two more passing touchdowns to Golden Tate.  The long was a nice 61 yard toss where Tate did most of the work.  Regardless, Jones had a record breaking game, going 26-for-40 for 308 yards and four touchdowns.

Sam Darnold wasn’t as good but he didn’t need to be, as he went 19-for-30 for 230 yards and two touchdowns, one of them being that two yard rushing TD.  Darnold didn’t need to be as good because he didn’t turn the ball over and made very few mistakes in a mistake-riddled season.

After a Sam Ficken field goal ended the third quarter, the Jets turned on the jets (no pun intended) in the fourth.  Le’Veon Bell finally scored a touchdown and Sam Ficken made it a seven point game with a late field goal.  The Jets defense held up and the game was won 34-27.

It was an extremely fun game to watch, but clearly a game between two inferior teams if that’s even possible.  There was very little defense to go around but the Jets did just enough to win.  Up next for the Jets?  A meeting with the Washington Redskins in D.C.
