Jet Up – The long season continues

You knew going into this game that the Jets had absolutely no shot beating the Philadelphia Eagles, regardless of where the game was. The Eagles are a good team and the Jets are not, especially without their quarterback for yet another week.

Luke Falk was as inefficient as a quarterback can be, completing 15 of 26 for only 120 yards and two interceptions. Most of his passes were check downs, with Le’Veon Bell catching seven of those for 45 yards. Falk also fumbled the ball twice and lost one of them. He was under siege all day and it felt like he was sacked at least 10 times, which he actually was. The offensive line was equally as bad as Falk, although the offensive line didn’t gift the Eagles two defensive touchdowns. The offense was so inefficient that David Fales, the fourth-string quarterback, came in to spell Falk at the end of the fourth quarter.

On the defensive side, the Eagles methodically picked apart the secondary because they had all the time in the world to throw. Carson Wentz was efficient but not too flashy and overall the Eagles’ offense wasn’t exactly dynamic but got the job done.

The Jets sustained zero pressure on Wentz and only got one sack on the day. Part of that was the complete lack of effort from most of the team but some of it was also for them being on the field for most of the game due to the offense’s inefficiencies. The only reason why the Jets even had any points was because they were gifted great field position and scored on a trick play.

Adam Gase hasn’t won a game as a head coach in a long time and the hiring of him seems to be a big mistake already. He’s barely taking any accountability and it feels like he’s going to try and wrap up the failure as a product of missing Sam Darnold. Of course it stings but this Jets team just flat out doesn’t look prepared.

When Darnold comes back we will see how much of a difference he makes, but it’s already a lost season as the Jets fell to 0-4. This was supposed to be a season in which the team took a step forward, but once again they seem to be taking two steps back.
