MMA UFC Newark: Jim Miller returns home to face Clay Guida, Oezdemir to clash with Latifi by Daniel Yanofsky June 27, 2019 If there was an MMA fight taking place in New Jersey, Jim Miller was always there. From 2005-2008 “A10” was showcased all over the state. While he eventually changed promotions multiple times he was always considered whenever events were in Jersey. Now, he once again returns to the state which literally molded him into becoming the man he is today. Miller (30-13, 1NC) will be fighting at UFC Newark on August 3rd against Clay Guida. The 35-year-old Miller won his last bout against Jason Gonzalez back in April. It was a breath of fresh air for Miller, who was 1-5 in his last six fights. He faces a guy in Guida (35-18) who is also on a bit of a rocky streak. He is 3-3 in his last six fights, beating B.J. Penn at UFC 237. To go along with that fight, light heavyweights will collide when Volkan Oezdemir faces Ilir Latifi. The fight between these two was supposed to take place this pat month in Sweden, but Latifi (14-6, 1NC) had to back out due to a back injury. Latifi was on a two-fight win streak before losing to Corey Anderson back at UFC 232 in December. Oezdemir (15-4) is on a three-fight losing streak, fighting back in March against Dominick Reyes. UFC Newark takes place inside the Prudential Center. The main event will be Colby Covington v. Robbie Lawler and tickets go on sale this Friday.
