Jimmy Vesey Chooses New York Rangers

The short lived Jimmy Vesey saga is over and the New York Rangers have prevailed. The team announced Friday that they have reached a deal with the 23-year old Hobey Baker Award winner.

As stated in a previous article this is an absolute steal for the Rangers who were without a first round pick this season. They managed to get young and promising talent to help bolster their roster without having to completely dismantle the team or by putting themselves in further financial harm.

Vesey is a big player at 6-3 203 pounds and knows a thing or two about putting the puck in the net. During his four years at Harvard he scored 80 goals and added 64 assists averaging just under a goal per game and just over a point per game.

Expectations will obviously be high but if Vesey can find that sort of form, even for small stretches during the season while he gets his NHL legs under him, the Rangers will have certainly found a diamond in the rough.

And if Vesey can ultimately be like his childhood teammate Kevin Hayes the Rangers will be very happy and so will the fans.
