Uncategorized Joe Torre Charity in the Running for the NYC Marathon by Judythe Ann Michelle June 28, 2015 If you’re following Joe Torre’s Charity, ‘Safe at Home’ then you know that the New York Road Runners has selected the charity to participate as a charity partner for the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon. Last year, on behalf of Double G Sports, I was able to interview Joe and Ali Torre, as they walked the ‘Red Carpet’ at their gala event honoring Andy Pettitte. They shared how Joe & Ali’s charity works within the school environment and focuses on awareness. Ali shared that although she does not think professional athletes should be required to be role models, she thinks that it is something we all should strive for. “Aren’t we all supposed to want to be role models?, ” she said. According to the site, www.joetorre.org there are a “limited number of guaranteed spots.” Those who partner with the charity will be helping Margaret’s Place, in its efforts to share about violence prevention via an intervention model. Partnering with the NYC Marathon is just another example of how Joe & Ali are aiming to keep kids ‘Safe at Home.’ Athletes who participate in this year’s NYC Marathon as part of the charity are required to raise a minimum of $3,000 in support of the charity.
