Pro Wrestling John Cena to Host Saturday Night Live on December 10th by Daniel Yanofsky December 2, 2016 Live from New York, the champ is here! It was announced by Saturday Night Live’s Twitter account that John Cena will be the latest WWE star to host the iconic show on December 10th. It will be his first time hosting, and he will be accompanied by musical guest and fellow first-timer Maren Morris. httpss://twitter.com/nbcsnl/status/804794737660227585?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw This is another step into the world of Hollywood for the 15-time World Champion. Cena has been frequently appearing in comedy movies over the years, including Trainwreck and Sisters. He has signed on to perform in The Pact and is the host of American Grit. Cena has also been keeping busy by acting as a special co-host for NBC’s TODAY. While he has no roles to promote until later, this could be some media attention for WWE as they prepare for the Royal Rumble in January. Cena last competed in a WWE ring during their No Mercy PPV in October, taking time off to film for American Grit. Cena’s transition is an interesting one, as he has been “complaining” for years about The Rock leaving WWE for Hollywood. The Rock has hosted SNL four times, the first time when he was just becoming WWE’s biggest star in 1999. The Rock has become one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, and Cena appears to just be getting started. It should be quite an entertaining show next week. My hope is that Kate McKinnon and Cena will interact, producing a skit that will steal the show. Professional wrestling and SNL, a match made in heaven.
