Basketball Justin Wright-Foreman earns first USBWA Player of the Week award by Chris Passarelli January 3, 2019 Justin Wright-Foreman has been a busy man the past few weeks. After becoming CAA Player of the Week for a third time this season, he added to his collection this week with the prestigious USBWA Player of the Week award. He was nominated for the award after winning the CAA Player of the Week award. JWF is the first Hofstra basketball player to ever receive this award. This comes on the heels of back to back stellar performances by the stud senior guard. Foreman averaged 31.5 points per game while shooting 67% from the field. He was also lights out from three point range, knocking down 63% of those. He also added 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the two games Hofstra played last week, a 91-46 drubbing of Delaware and a gritty 89-75 win over Drexel. Foreman scored 29 points in just under 30 minutes against Delaware. His game high also came with five rebounds and two assists. He continued his hot shooting with a 34 point performance against Drexel that included five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Not for nothing, but Justin Wright-Foreman may be the most underrated player in the country. He is averaging 25.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists so far this season and shows no signs of slowing down. If he was on a perennial hoops powerhouse he’d be talked about a lot more. Regardless of how much fanfare he’s gotten, he does keep on racking up the awards. His team goes as he goes and if he continues to play like this the Pride may find themselves in the NCAA Tournament.
