College Kamiko Williams brings high level experience to Monmouth Women’s Basketball coaching staff Williams joins Kira Mowen as recent hires by head coach Jody Craig. by Gregg Snyder July 10, 2018 Kamiko Williams has been hired as an assistant coach to work under Jody Craig for the Monmouth University Women’s Basketball program. She was previously an assistant coach at the University of New Haven from 2015-2018. By hiring Williams, Monmouth adds some high level experience to the bench alongside Craig. Williams played college ball under the Pat Summit at the University of Tennessee. During her time with the Vols, Williams played in 128 games, averaging 4.5 points per game. She appeared in the NCAA Tournament all four years at the school. Williams was drafted by the New York Liberty of the WNBA in 2013. She spent one year with the Liberty, averaging 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. “I am honored to have someone of Kamiko’s caliber join our staff,” said Craig through a University release. “Using the knowledge she gained from playing for Coach Summitt at Tennessee as well as her WNBA experience with the Liberty, Kamiko will play an instrumental role in assisting with our team’s growth and development both on and off the court.” Williams is the second assistant coach hiring this month for Craig. Last week, the University announced the hiring of Kira Mowen as an assistant coach. Mowen brings Division 1 coaching experience from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Davidson University, and Texas State University. She played collegiately at the University of Illinois and Youngstown State University, where she served as a team captain. Last season, Monmouth advanced to the MAAC Quarterfinals, falling to eventual champion Quinnipiac.
