Knights In The NFL – Week 15

Ray Rice, our Knight of the Week, had a monster day as the Baltimore Ravens finally got their running game back on track. Rice carried the ball 31 times for 153 yards, both season highs.

Week 15 in the NFL saw some of our former Rutgers Scarlet Knights stars put together stand out performances.

Ray Rice, our Knight of the Week, had a monster day as the Baltimore Ravens finally got their running game back on track. Rice carried the ball 31 times for 153 yards, both season highs. He ran for a 10 yard touchdown. Rice also caught five passes for 80 yards including a very nice 17 yard touchdown. Rice had a total of 233 total yards as the Ravens defeated the New Orleans Saints, 30-24.

Jeremy Zuttah started at center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs were unable to get past the Detroit Lions, losing 23-20. Zuttah could start at center the remainder of the year as Tampa Bay’s starting center Jeff Faine is out for the year.

The San Francisco 49ers fell to the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night by a score of 34-7. Rookie offensive lineman, Anthony Davis started for San Francisco as he had all season.

Ryan Neill is on injured reserve for San Diego.

Wide receiver Kenny Britt returned from a hamstring injury in Week 14 but finally regained his form this week. In his second game back, Britt caught six passes for 128 yards, including a long of 59 yards. Britt helped the Tennessee Titans get back into the win column with a 31-17 win over the Houston Texans.

Titans cornerback Jason McCourty played a good game, making five tackles in the win.

The Indianapolis Colts came away with a 34-24 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Defensive captain Gary Brackett made five tackles and one assist in the win. Two of those tackles were for loss. Eric Foster recorded two tackles and two assists in the important victory.

All three former Knights on the Jacksonville roster missed this game. Courtney Greene is dealing with a shoulder injury, Tiquan Underwood was inactive, and Kevin Haslam was placed on injured reserve last week.

Jamaal Westerman was inactive in the New York Jets big 22-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Veteran center Shaun O’Hara returned to the New York Giants starting lineup. The Giants suffered a classic collapse in a huge game against the Philadelphia Eagles. New York lost, 38-31 and fell into second place in the NFC East.

Gary Gibson started on the St. Louis Rams defensive line but did not record any stats. St. Louis fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 27-13.

The Denver Broncos lost to the Oakland Raiders, 39-23. Denver defensive back Nate Jones had one assist and three special teams tackles in the loss.

Brian Leonard has been doing a little bit of everything for the Cincinnati Bengals. In Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, Leonard had one carry for -1 yards, 1 catch for 20 yards, and two special teams tackles. During the 20 yard reception, Leonard did his famous leap over a defender before falling to the ground.

Clark Harris handled the long snapping duties for Cincinnati.

The New England Patriots pulled off a 31-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. Devin McCourty continued his strong season and push for Defensive Rookie of the Year. McCourty, who was talked about by the announcers, recorded seven tackles, three assists, and a sack. The sack was his first of his young NFL career. Two of McCourty’s tackles went for a loss.
