Uncategorized Kyle Lauletta Next in Line for New York Giants by Stephen Ur May 12, 2018 The New York Giants drafted University of Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. With the end of the Eli Manning era coming to an end in New York and Davis Webb not being the ideal starter, Lauletta could easily be the next man up with the Giants. Kyle Lauletta Next in Line for New York Giants During his career with the Richmond Spiders, Lauletta threw for 10,465 yards and 73 touchdowns. He also recorded a passer rating of 151.5. Despite Webb having thrown nine more touchdowns than Lauletta, he has thrown for 613 more passing yards than Webb – in less games to boot. Those that didn’t know of his performance at the University of Richmond, they knew who he was when he played in the Reese’s Senior Bowl back in January. He was the most impressive player in the game, throwing for 198 yards and three second half touchdowns. He also only threw four incompletions. Not to mention that some of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, such as Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson and of course Tom Brady, have come after the second round. Lauletta looks as if he could join that group of late- draft talented quarterbacks. It could be a couple seasons, but if the Giants keep him and he continues to learn from Manning, he could be a part of the next generation of great NFL quarterbacks. For now, however, this is Eli’s team and they will be looking toward the 2018 season. They be looking for a bounce back season after starting 0-5 in 2017 and losing their star receiver in Odell Beckham, Jr to a broken ankle. Their 2018 season kicks off against their former head coach, Tom Couglin, as the Jacksonville Jaguars, of which he is the head of football operations, come to MetLife Stadium. They and the other 31 teams will be competing to play in Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Feb. 2, 2019.
