Baseball LaHair Smacks Two Home Runs To Help Lead To 9-4 Patriots Win by Somerset Patriots June 12, 2016 Lancaster, PA – Bryan LaHair went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI as the Somerset Patriots (27-22) led wire to wire and defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (25-22) 9-4 Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium. It was LaHair’s second multi-homer game of the year. “I just go up there and trust my ability and try and have fun,” said the 2012 National League All-Star with the Chicago Cubs. “Good things happen when you work hard.” Somerset plated four first inning runs. Eric Farris and Trayvon Robinson each drilled RBI singles. Carlos Guzman chipped in with an RBI sacrifice fly while LaHair added an RBI groundout. Lancaster countered with an RBI groundout of their own off the bat of Josh Whitaker in the bottom of the first inning. Farris tallied an RBI ground out in the second inning and LaHair hammered a solo home run (4) to right field the following frame. Somerset led 6-1 at that point. Lancaster scored the next two runs of the game as Caleb Gindl ripped an RBI single and Mike McDade recorded an RBI sacrifice fly all of which occurred in the third inning. With the score 6-3, LaHair put the game out of reach with a line drive three-run home run (5) to right field to give Somerset a comfortable 9-3 advantage. LaHair is 13-for-28 (.464) against Lancaster pitching this year. The Barnstormers used a Kevin Ahrens RBI sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 9-4, but that would be the final. The Patriots bullpen threw 3.1 scoreless innings to preserve the lead. Jeremy Horst (4-2) earned the win. He struck out a season-high eight and only walked one. He yielded four runs on eight hits. Mike Lee (2-2) struggled in the loss. He surrendered six runs on three innings of work. The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues on the road until the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark Tuesday, June 14th for a 7:05 p.m. game against the York Revolution.
