College Last Second Field Goal Gives Kean ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl Win Kean 30, SUNY Cortland 27 by Lou Monaco November 18, 2016 (Photo by Double G Media) The Kean University football team relied on its juniors to end its season on a high note Friday. Junior kicker Aryeh Moslavi kicked a 26-yard field goal as time expired to lift Kean University to a 30-27 victory over SUNY Cortland to capture the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Clayton Chapman Bowl in the opening game of the 2016 ECAC Division III Football Fest at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kean (7-4), which ended its season winning four straight games, appeared in an ECAC bowl game for the seventh time in program history and captured its fifth bowl championship. Junior running back Brian Matthews was named the game’s Most Valuable Player as he rushed for 193 yards on 30 carries and finished with 1,150 rushing yards on the season. Junior quarterback Charles App completdd 22-of-30 passes for 261 yards with two touchdowns and added another 72 yards on the ground with a score for the Cougars, which posted 585 yards of total offense, its highest of the season. Senior LeRon Dillard added 98 yards on the ground with a TD for the Cougars. In the fourth quarter, Zach Tripodi had a 7-yard TD run with 5:48 remaining for SUNY Cortland to tie the game at 27-27, before Moslavi’s heroics. Senior Austin Davis, junior Vaughn Scott, and senior Robert Meade III each had an interception and David Coleman, Jr. had a team-high seven tackles, along with a 3-yard TD run in the second quarter for Kean. Brett Segala completed 27-of-43 passes for 356 yards with three TDs and three interceptions and rushed for a team-high 76 yards to pace SUNY Cortland (5-6). Jon Mannix had two first-half TD receptions for SUNY Cortland.
