College LB Rashawn Battle Commits to Rutgers by Staff Post June 22, 2015 Wallenpaupack Area (Hawley, Pa.) Jr. LB Rashawn Battle (right) with Rutgers LB commits Jonathan Pollock (middle) and Elias Reynolds (left) (Photo courtesy of Battle, used with permission) At Rutgers’ R B1G Tour stop in Cherry Hill, N.J. last month, head coach Kyle Flood said there will be a lot of commitments in June. There sure has. Fresh off their second installments of their Skills Camp and Big Man Academy, Flood and co. picked up their eighth verbal of the month (nine if you semi-include offensive tackle Malcolm Pridgeon who committed, but his situation is foggy) and third of the weekend in linebacker Rashawn Battle. Battle, by way of Wallenpaupack Area High School (Hawley, Pa.), is a three-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The stud linebacker stands 6-foot-3, and weighs 220-pounds. According to MaxPreps.com, Battle recorded 37 tackles, including three for loss, and 2.5 sacks in eight games played as a junior. On offense, he also rushed for 464 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-3, 220-pound linebacker planned to commit on his birthday (July, 20), but after competing at the Skills Camp Friday, he decided to end his recruitment and choose the Scarlet Knights over other offers from Boston College, Indiana, Ohio, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh among other smaller schools. With the addition of Battle, the Scarlet Knights now have four linebackers committed for the class of 2016 in Dr. Phillips’ (Fla.) Jonathan Pollock, Poly Prep’s (N.Y.) Elias Reynolds, and Colonia’s (N.J.) Solomon Manning. Rutgers appears done with the position group. After the three commitments this weekend, Rutgers moved up in 247’s recruiting ranking to No. 37 Nationally and No. 11 in the Big Ten Conference. httpss://twitter.com/Thatkidbattle7/status/612708689141612544 Post Views: 1,655 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Staff Post Latest posts by Staff Post (see all) In The Zone Announces Initial Podcast Lineup - November 13, 2020 The Essential Resources You Need to Start Your Own Gym in 2020 - February 6, 2020 Wilder vs Fury II – How the second fight will be different to the first? - February 5, 2020 Early turnovers, defensive struggles plague the Scarlet Knights - January 26, 2020 Related TopicsRashawn BattleRutgersRutgers FootballRutgers Recruiting Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
