At Rutgers’ R B1G Tour stop in Cherry Hill, N.J. last month, head coach Kyle Flood said there will be a lot of commitments in June.

There sure has.

Fresh off their second installments of their Skills Camp and Big Man Academy, Flood and co. picked up their eighth verbal of the month (nine if you semi-include offensive tackle Malcolm Pridgeon who committed, but his situation is foggy) and third of the weekend in linebacker Rashawn Battle.

Battle, by way of Wallenpaupack Area High School (Hawley, Pa.), is a three-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The stud linebacker stands 6-foot-3, and weighs 220-pounds. According to MaxPreps.com, Battle recorded 37 tackles, including three for loss, and 2.5 sacks in eight games played as a junior. On offense, he also rushed for 464 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 6-3, 220-pound linebacker planned to commit on his birthday (July, 20), but after competing at the Skills Camp Friday, he decided to end his recruitment and choose the Scarlet Knights over other offers from Boston College, Indiana, Ohio, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh among other smaller schools.

With the addition of Battle, the Scarlet Knights now have four linebackers committed for the class of 2016 in Dr. Phillips’ (Fla.) Jonathan Pollock, Poly Prep’s (N.Y.) Elias Reynolds, and Colonia’s (N.J.) Solomon Manning. Rutgers appears done with the position group.

After the three commitments this weekend, Rutgers moved up in 247’s recruiting ranking to No. 37 Nationally and No. 11 in the Big Ten Conference.
