Basketball Liberty Cruise As Suns Playoff Hopes Continue To Fade by Jason Cordner September 11, 2016 Photo Credit: Targetcenter.com The New York Liberty continue to play out the rest of the regular season. After securing the 3rd seed, the New York Liberty look to finish out the last four games on the regular season in a high note. Friday night the Liberty took on a desperate Connecticut Suns team. The Liberty pulled ahead late in the 4th quarter to get the 89-80 win. Coming into this game , the Suns are still battling to get into the playoffs. It was a game they needed but ultimately didn’t get. The New York Liberty (21-10) struggled at times in the game dealing with the Suns (11-19) defense. The Suns force the liberty to turn the ball over 14 times which lead to 19 Suns second chance points. The liberty had another strong performance behind Tina Charles who finished the game with 23 points on 9-22 shooting. The Liberty also got strong production out of Sugar Rodgers , who contributed 18 points on 5-10 shooting. The Connecticut Suns slim playoff hopes are officially on life support. The Suns have to win out their three remaining games and hope either Seattle and Washington stubble out of contention. Lucky enough , Seattle and Washington do have one last head to head game coming up this week . The Suns Chiney Ogwumike and Courtney Williams lead a great balance attack. Both players contributed with 20 points each. The Suns have been battling the injury bug all season long. They only had eight players dressed for this game. The Connecticut Suns will return to Mohegan Sun Arena for three home games – Chicago (Sept. 11, 1 p.m.), Indiana (Sept. 13, 7 p.m.), Dallas (Sept. 16, 7 p.m.) and close out the regular season at Washington (Sept. 18, 4 p.m.). The New York Liberty will continue to play out the remainder of the season and try to stay healthy, as they await their second round opponent. The liberty travel to Dallas to take on the Dallas Wings on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Post Views: 1,130 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Jason Cordner Latest posts by Jason Cordner (see all) Lebron James Leaves Coca-Cola To Sign With Pepsi - March 22, 2021 WNBA Rolling Out Red Carpet For Upcoming 25th Anniversary Season - March 16, 2021 Nike Partners with National Urban League to Promote Employment and Home Ownership for the Black Community - March 15, 2021 Rob Gronkowski Gets In On NFT Collection Movement, Becomes First Athlete To Do So - March 10, 2021 Related TopicsBasketballconnecticut sunsNBANew York LibertyWNBA Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
