Feature LI’s Aljamain Sterling Gets Top Bantamweight at UFC Albany by Kristine Haugsjaa October 11, 2016 Photo Credit: FOXSports.com Another of Long Island’s top talent has been added to UFC Albany. #8 ranked UFC Bantamweight Aljamain Sterling is set to face #3 ranked Raphael Assuncao at UFC Fight Night 102 at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York on December 9th, as reported by MMAJunkie.com. The entire Friday night card will be aired on UFC Fight Pass. Sterling (12-1 MMA), fighting out of Uniondale, Long Island, recently picked up the first loss in his professional mixed martial arts career to #5 Bryan Caraway via split decision at UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Garbrandt in May. Assuncano (23-5) is also coming off a loss via unanimous decision to #1 ranked Bantamweight T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 200 in July. The “Funk Master” is the second Long Islander is get added to the fight card at the state capital. UFC Light-Heavyweight Gian Villante is also set to compete on the card. This will be the second card in New York state, following UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in November.
