LI’s Gregor Gillespie Remains Undefeated in UFC Debut

Long Island’s Gregor Gillespie (8-0) showcased his high-profile wrestling against Brazilian UFC Lightweight Glaico Franca (13-5) earning himself an unanimous decision victory Saturday night on the UFC Fight Night 95 Early Fight Pass Prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

After taking heavy shots in the beginning of the first round, causing his left eye to swell early in the fight, Gillespie gained control of the match up with his dominate wrestling. The All-American wrestler tired out Franca in the first round while pinning him against the cage. Against Franca’s attempts to keep the fight on the feet, Gillespie landed five out of his 19 takedown attempts, dominating control for an impressive 11 minutes of the 15 minute fight.

All three judges scored the fight (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).

Gillespie trains on Long Island out of Bellmore Kickboxing Academy in Bellmore under coach Keith Trimble and at Gracie Barra in New Hyde Park under Professor Joe Scarola.
