SWAG Lucky 92! Michael Strahan’s Super Bowl Jersey up for Auction by Candace Cordelia August 18, 2020 The same jersey Michael Strahan wore playing during Super Bowl 42 is now up for auction at an astronomical price. On the morning of August 18, the bid for the former New York Giants’ famous number 92 jersey was at $39,000, with a starting bid was $20,000. Strahan’s coveted jersey is a part of football history — the television host and football analyst wear it while helping to defeat the undefeated New England Patriots during Super Bowl XLII in 2008. The game, which was also Strahan’s last, is considered to be one of the greatest in Super Bowl history and biggest upsets in sports overall to date. According to Goldin Auctions, the jersey still has “numerous grass and dirt stains” on it resulting from the Super Bowl 42 game and also comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the MelGray Group. The MelGray group photo matched Michael Strahan’s jersey “to warm-ups, game action and the celebration of Super Bowl XLII” in order to confirm its legitimacy. The auction is scheduled to end in four days.
