Mauro Ranallo (WWE.com)

It has been a busy few weeks for Mauro Ranallo. First, Bellator MMA signed him and Mike Goldberg to exclusive deals. Then, it was announced that he would be calling the Mayweather/McGregor bout on Showtime. He hit the trifecta by announcing his return to WWE, this time to commentate for the NXT brand.

Mauro is expected to be at tonight’s NXT tapings. This is interesting news, considering all that has taken place this past year. Ranallo and WWE parted ways after initial reports of bullying by way of JBL. In a stressful work environment, especially with someone who suffers from depression, that is not a good combination. Ranallo has recently shot down those rumors as a cause for his departure however.

WWE has been working on getting Ranallo back into the fold for quite some time now. One man who probably worked hard on getting him back was Triple H, who tweeted a response to Mauro’s breaking news.

It would only make sense, since Triple H has a knack for this sort of thing. The list of names he has helped bring in over the years include: Bruno Sammartino, The Ultimate Warrior and Sting.

Mauro will reportedly take over Tom Phillips’ position on commentary, according to Fight Network. Just imagine, him and Nigel McGuinness working side by side. His style seems much more welcomed in an atmosphere like NXT’s. It is a brand with a passionate crowd and the best wrestling talent from all over the world.

It is definitely a confusing situation between Mauro and WWE. Is this an easy way to avoid a lawsuit, or to try and start over? One thing is for sure: it will be nice to hear the voice of the great commentator on WWE TV once again.
