Hockey Metropolitan Riveters Re-Sign Original Riveter Kiira Dosdall by Chip Gianni August 17, 2018 The Metropolitan Riveters announced on Thursday that Original Riveter, Kiira Dosdall, will be returning to defend the Isobel Cup this season. Dosdall has been with the Riveters since day one at Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, New York and continued don the jersey with Rosie emblazoned across the front, as the team moved west, to Newark, New Jersey and the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House. In her time with the Riveters, she has watched them go from four victories that inaugural season of the National Women’s Hockey League, to helping the team hoist the Isobel Cup this past season. The five-foot-eight, defender from Stamford, Connecticut has scored three goals and 19 assists in 51 regular season games. She has also skated in five post season games, including the epic Isobel Cup Final against the Buffalo Beauts, last March. Dosdall said, “Going from a 4-12 record in season one to winning the Isobel Cup in season three was a remarkable journey with my teammates, coaches and staff. I can’t wait to help the Riveters fight to be the first back-to-back NWHL Champs!” In 134 games for Colgate University, in Hamilton Township, New York she scored 11 goals and 52 assists. Dosdall served as team captain during her senior year. In addition to her hockey career, the 2008-2009 Patty Kazmaier Award nominee works as a project manager for Schoology, a learning management system for K-12 schools, higher education institutions and corporations that allows users to create, manage and share content and resources. Dosdall also serves as the Girls’ Director for the New Jersey Colonials. Prior to playing in the NWHL, she played one season with the Canadian Women’s Hockey League’s Boston Blade and four with the Vienna Sabres of the European Women’s Hockey League. Dosdall was the first player to be named to the EWHL All-Star Game four seasons in a row. Dosdall is proud of how far the league has grown in its first three seasons. She noted, “The progress has been absolutely amazing. The shift from Aviator in season one, to the Riveters’ home opener at the Prudential Center before a [New Jersey] Devils game last season is just an example of the league’s exponential growth. Dani Rylan, Hayley Moore and the NWHL staff’s work is incredible. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this league for another season.” Dosdall joins Courtney Burke, Jenny Ryan, Kelsey Koelzer, Michelle Picard and Rebecca Morse in keeping the core defense corps together for another run at the Isobel Cup. The Riveters will continue to have some chemistry between the pipes and up front as well too as all three goaltenders and several forwards have agreed to return.
