National League Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom of the Mets has been voted the winner of the 2014 DoubleGSports.com Award in the Rookie of the Year category.

The Mets’ 26-year-old right-hander was 9-6 with a 2.69 ERA in 2014. deGrom set a National League record by striking out eight consecutive batters to begin a game in September against the Miami Marlins.

deGrom edged out Yankees relief pitcher Dellin Betances and New York Rangers left wing Anthony Duclair (currently playing for Quebec in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) for the DoubleGSports.com Award.
