The team has sent catcher Rod Barajas to the Los Angeles Dodgers after he was claimed on waivers. The Mets were hoping for more production from Barajas when the season started. He did have 12 home runs this season but they came in bunches. Barajas is batting just .225. New York receives cash considerations for the catcher that will turn 35 this September. Barajas will provide depth in Los Angeles where starting catcher Russell Martin was lost for the season on August 3rd. The Mets will get a long look at Thole behing the plate the rest of this season. He is currently batting .292 with an on base percentage of .364. In 17 games last season for the Mets, Thole batted .321. He has one home run this year.
