Monday Morning Man Cave: MLB Playoffs, MNF, CFB, and Movies

Welcome to the latest holiday installment of the Monday Morning Man Cave. Happy Columbus Day to everyone.With the Baseball  playoffs in full swing , we have plenty of  content  to go over for this week. We have a great week of sports and pop culture events to cover, so here are some of this week’s highlights in all things sports and pop culture.

Monday – National League Divisional series   St Louis Cardinals  vs Chicago Cubs : The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals will face off Monday at Wrigley Field in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.With the series tied 1-1, Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta will be taking the mound. Will the Cardinals be up to the challenge? The Chicago fans will be in a full frenzy and will make for an interesting pivotal game.

Monday – National League Divisional Series  Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets : After splitting the first two games in LA, the New York Mets return home to  host the Los Angeles Dodgers  in Game 3 of their National League Division Series on Monday night at Citi Field, and will send Matt Harvey to the mound for this pivotal game 3. Harvey was 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA in 29 starts in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, with 188 strikeouts in 189⅓ innings. After game 2 controversy surrounding game 2 , this  will only add to the viewing value. The winner  of game 3 will be in the driver seat to close out the series , the following night for game 4.

Monday- Monday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers vs San Diego Chargers:  The Steelers and Chargers both find themselves in very similar positions as they prepare to clash on Monday Night Football to wrap up Week 5 of the NFL season. Both are 2-2 and two games back of 5-0 division leaders in the AFC. If either team, dreams about postseason play, then this is a big game for both teams. The loser of this game , will be 3 games out of first place in their division.

Monday – American League Divisional Series  -Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers: The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers resume their best-of-five American League Division Series. Texas are home and still have a chance to clinch the series , with a win on Monday. R.A. Dickey will be on the mound for the Blue Jays. This will be Dickey’s first career  playoff start ,considering he been in the league since 2003. If Toronto wins , game  5 will be on Wednesday night in Toronto.

Monday – American League Divisional Series – Kansas City Royals  vs Houston Astros : The Astros are one win away from advancing to the American League Championship Series, needing a win on Monday in Game 4 of their American League Division Series to close out the Kansas City Royals at Minute Maid Park in Houston.The Royals, who won eight straight games during the 2014 postseason en route to the AL pennant — then followed that up with 95 wins and the best record in the American League in 2015 — need a win on Monday to stay alive.Kansas City will turn to Yordano Ventura, on only three days rest. The Astros, with some of the best young talent in the game, will turn to 22-year-old Lance McCullers for Game 4.

Thursday Night Football- Atlanta Falcons  vs New Orleans Saints: The NFC South takes centerstage Thursday NightThe Atlanta Falcons will take an undefeated record to New Orleans for a Thursday night game against the Saints. This is a must win game for the Saints , as  they stand right now at 1-4.

Friday – Crimson Peak: The movie tells the story of aspiring New York-based author Edith Cushing, played by Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, who falls for mysterious British stranger Thomas Sharpe, portrayed by “Thor” actor Tom Hiddleston.In the wake of a family tragedy, she decides to marry Sharpe and moves to his isolated and crumbling English mansion, a house full of secrets as well as troubled spirits. This a great pre Halloween movie to go see. Who doesn’t like a little haunted house mystery?

Saturday College Football  #8 Florida Gators vs #6 LSU Tigers: Florida, fresh off of entering the top 10 in the AP Poll and coming in at No.11 in the Coaches Poll, will open as the underdog for its match-up with LSU in Baton Rouge.The Tigers, for their part, are ranked No. 5 in the Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the AP Poll.Should be another SEC slugfest. Winner could be in the top 5, the following week.

Saturday College Football  #7 Michigan State Spartans  vs #12 Michigan Wolverines :  The #7th ranked Michigan State Spartans  and the 12th ranked Michigan Wolverines  will do battle on Saturday , at the Big House in Ann Arbor. Michigan State has dominated this rivalry lately,winning six of the last seven match-ups. However, under the direction of first year head coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan (5-1) has emerged as the surprised in college football, especially with it’s physical play on defense. The Wolverines have posted three straight shutouts. ESPN College GameDay crew will be in attendance , so expect the Big House to be rocking .

Saturday – Boxing  HBO Pay Per View –  Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux: Gennady Glolovkin and David Lemieux are set to do battle in their huge middleweight championship showdown, Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Can Triple G vs lemieux be this  generation’s  Hagler vs Hearns? Can Triple G become the next boxing  pay -per -view star? This weekend , all those questions  could be answered. This is a must watch fight, for all of those reasons.

Sunday – NFL Sunday week 6 Key Game:  Week 6 in the NFL  has a few interesting games. None more intriguing  than the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, visit the Indianapolis Colts. I’m sure Tom Brady circled this game on his calendar months ago. Other key games , 5-0 Bengals visit the 3-2 Buffalo Bills, and the 4-0 Panthers at the 2-3 Seahawks.
