Basketball NBA 2019-20 – Two Value Bets for the New York Knicks by Guest September 16, 2019 The new NBA season is right around the corner, and this season the New York Knicks will be starting the campaign with greater confidence than in recent years. Despite suffering their worst regular season with a 17-65 record in 2018-19, the Knicks have strengthened well in the off season and will be looking to improve on that. For those interested on betting on Scott Perry’s side, here are two potential bets which could be fruitful. New York Knicks to Cause an Upset After finishing dead bottom of the Eastern Conference in the 2018-19 campaign with more defeats and fewer wins than any other franchise, the Knicks were the worst team in the division by some stretch. With the rebuilding work still continuing, it’s unlikely that the Knicks are going to make big waves in the new season. However, they could easily lift themselves off the bottom and crawl back up to a more respectable position in the table. A tenth-place finish could even be a possibility, and this is a bet which could prove to be lucrative. To end the campaign in that kind of position, the Knicks will likely need at least 30 wins. Staking on the over 27.5 market therefore could be viable. The New York franchise is looking to bounce back after a dismal season, and used the $74 million of cap space to bring in five new signings. Wayne Ellington, Taj Gibson, Bobby Portis, Elfrid Payton, and Julius Randle have the potential to transform Perry’s team and make them a more formidable force in the Eastern Conference. RJ Barrett Odds-on to Win Rookie of the Year One of the most exciting things leading up to the new season is the addition of RJ Barrett, a player who could certainly help shake things up a bit in the squad. The Toronto-born player is among the bookies’ favorites to win the Rookie of the Year award, and can be backed at odds of around 550. By using sites like Sports Interaction and Bet365 for online betting, you can get deposit bonuses of up to $200. This way, you can reduce the risk of betting on markets such as this. Zion Williamson is currently the odds-on favorite to win the accolade, and the 19-year-old was the first player picked in the 2019-20 NBA draft by New Orleans Pelicans. Barrett was the third pick, though, and is another exciting youngster. He has played for the Canadian national under-19 team, and was named MVP at the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup. The powerful Duke Blue Devils graduate is a promising prospect, and could be a handy signing for the Knicks this term. It has been a long time since the Knicks were at the top of the sport, and the New York franchise hasn’t been in the playoffs since the 2012-13 season. But the rebuilding process is underway, and there are some new additions who could shake things up. The 2019-20 campaign could mark the start of a new era.
