Nets to Part Ways with Tim Walsh and Gary Sussman

The season may have ended for the Brooklyn Nets, but new GM Sean Marks is already beginning to shake things up within the organization.  According to multiple sources, the Nets will part ways with two long time employees, both of whom have been around the team since before the NBA Finals days in New Jersey.

The Nets have yet to confirm the news, but it looks like both head athletic trainer Tim Walsh and press relations vice president Gary Sussman will not remain with the organization moving forward.  It doesn’t seem to be a slight on either guy.  Both Walsh and Sussman are well respected around the league.  It seems as though Marks wants to surround himself with his own people in Brooklyn.

Walsh is a three-time NBA Trainer of the Year Award recipient, taking home the honor each of the past two seasons.  He just finished his 16th year with the Nets after working with the Orlando Magic from 1997-2000.  He also spent 13 years with the New York Knicks as an assistant athletic trainer.

Sussman was with the Nets organization for the past 23 years.  He spent time as the team’s director of corporate communications and also served as the team’s public address announcer while they played in New Jersey.  He was promoted to his most recent role in 2003.
