New Haven sets pace in 36-10 victory over the Setters

Pace could not keep up with the passing game led by New Haven quarterback Ajee Patterson and his core of receivers. New Haven scored on their first drive, with Patterson hitting receiver AJ Green for 37 yards and the drive was capped with a seven- yard run by Nyshere Woodson. 

On New Haven’s second possession, Patterson led the Chargers down the field using his passing skills hitting receivers Green and Ryan McCarthy before hitting Jonathan Badyna for the touchdown and a 12-0 lead. 

Pace responded with a score of their own, with key runs from Aiken and Bien-Amie. A pass to Mark English gave Pace a key first down before Darius Jones hit Brandon Simmons for a 23-yard touchdown. 

New Haven scored again on their next possession utilizing their passing game. 

Pace simply could not keep up with New Haven, adding only a field goal for the rest of the half. New Haven also added a field goal to give themselves a 22-10 halftime lead. 

New Haven missed a field goal attempt on their first possession of the second half.

Pace took their first possession and moved the ball down the field with good runs by Bien-Amie, Carlton Aiken and Simmons but a sack and an unsportsman penalty thwarted the opportunity. 

Patterson went back to work using the passing game, hitting Williams for 15-yards, Rogers for 13-yards and capping the drive with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Ju’an William and giving New Haven a 29-10 lead. 

Pace looked like it may close the gap with a big pass play from Brandon Simmons to Ramir Tann-Davis but the ball a force fumble by Mark Clements resulted in a New Haven recovery in the end zone. New Haven added an addition score with a nine-yard run by Chris Liggio for a 36-10 lead.

Both teams evened their records a 1-1.
