Soccer New York City FC trades Jonathan Lewis by Stefano Bentivogli May 9, 2019 Wednesday was a day of movement for New York City FC. The team of Domenec Torrent has great abundance in attack, and with the change of game system adopted by the Spaniard coach after the first five games without a victory, Jonathan Lewis was cut off. Lewis was sold to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for $650,000 in allocated money, plus another $100,000 based on performance criteria. New York City has also achieved an international driving position for 2020. Lewis had started the season making his debut against Orlando City. It was he who served the assist for the first goal of the New York season to Ebenezer Ofori in the 2-2 against Orlando. Domenec Torrent was aiming at him, but the team could not get the victories. Hence the choice to change the game system with the exclusion of Lewis who, game after game, found less and less space. Now New York City plays with the 3-4-3 in the possessing phase with Sweat and Tinnerholm as protagonists. In attack the trident is composed of Héber, with Maxi Moralez and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, waiting for the best Mitrita. Also due to its characteristics, Lewis was no longer considered by Torrent. Was New York City FC‘s choice to deprive itself of Lewis right or wrong? Only the field will give the final answer.
