Florham Park, New Jersey – The New York Jets signed running back Khiry Robinson, activated running back Brandon Wilds from the practice squad, and re-signed defensive lineman Claude Pelon to the practice squad. This move comes a day after the Jets released running back CJ Spiller who was on the roster for a few games and saw limited playing time.

Robinson was in camp with the Jets to start the year after being signed during the year’s unrestricted free agency period back on March 11, but was hurt for most of it. He was rehabbing from a tibia fracture that he suffered during mid-season of 2015 while with the New Orleans Saints. Now, the Jets are saying he is close to being back, but did have a sore leg in practice today. Robinson did see the field in the last preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, playing 24 offensive snaps for the team but would sustain another injury to his leg during the game and was later waived with an injury designation on September 4.

Robinson has played in 28 total games with three of them being starts in three seasons with the Saints while racking up 186 carries for 766 yards and eight touchdowns with 25 receptions for 178 yards. Brandon Wilds was signed to the Jets practice squad on September 26 and he signed as a undrafted free agent with Atlanta out of South Carolina after this year’s draft. He led the Falcons during preseason 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries before being released by the team at the end of camp.

Defensive lineman Pelon was signed by the Jets as a undrafted free agent after this year’s draft from The University of Southern California. He recorded three tackles and a pair of quarterback hits back in preseason before he was waived. He was signed to the practice squad by the team the next day, but was later released a couple of days later.
